In the historical village of Cocconato, located in Monferrato area at 500 meters of altitude, this important farm and winery receives all the “good wine” lovers in its prestigious cellars. Here the respect for the environment and the love for the land mix with the secrets of tradition and the most advanced techniques perfectly.

Bava family started the vineyards cultivation in this territory in the Seventeenth century and built here its first cellar in 1911. From that moment on, more than one hundred of harvests and four generations followed one another; at the same time, the quality of production increased in an extraordinary way, with the Barbera d’Asti wine as the protagonist.

Nowadays the property of Bava family extends in different zones of Monferrato and Langhe Hills, including 72 hectares of land in all; 52 hectares are dedicated to the vineyards, cultivated with the same passion and care of the past, thanks to an accurate plan of eco-friendly farming.

Vineyards and Wines.

Bava family’s vineyards are located in both Monferrato and Langhe areas, on the most fertile and sunny slopes, guaranteeing the production of wines of excellence exclusively.

In Cocconato, the historical seat of the winery, there is the cultivation of Barbera and Albarossa grapes, together with some white grapes; on the hills around Penango, in the direction of Casale Monferrato, some international grapevines too, such as Sauvignon and Chardonnay. From the village of Agliano, in the Southern part of the Province of Asti, there are the Barbera grapes used for the production of “Nizza”, a refined typology of Barbera d’ Asti wine. In Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of Langhe Hills, Bava family has not only the vineyards but also another modern cellar for the production of Barolo and Dolcetto d’Alba wines.

The Wine Cellars.

An important work of restoration and enlargement involved the first wine cellars, built in 1911, in order to improve as best is possible each passage of wine making process, also introducing the new technologies, both for the fermentation and the ageing, choosing big barrels or barrique depending on each kind of wine produced.

Moreover, a part of the cellars is reserved for the fermentation of aromatic wines only.

The Wine Shop.

Together with the Bava bottles, you can taste and buy the specialties by Giulio Cocchi too, such as the famous “Vermouth” born in Torino, the “Barolo Chinato” and the “Spumante”. At the end, you cannot miss the rich series of artisan “gourmet delicacies”, such as several kinds of rice, jams, honey and chocolate.
